Justin Ismael (ISH) continues the retro resurgence with a new sofubi edition of The Great Garloo. Officially licensed from Marx Toys, the figure was produced in collaboration with Headlock Studio and Knuckle (Little Chop Design) who sculpted the sea monster. Made in Japan, the new sofubi edition evokes the original 2-foot remote control monster toy from the 1960s. The sculpt celebrates the fearsome one with the unmistakable snarl, standout leopard print shorts, scale texture and even the ‘Garloo’ medallion. While opening the original toy is likely out of the question for most, ISH has made every effort to preserve as much of the experience as possible right down to the packaging which is a lightly-revised version of the original window box.
The The Great Garloo sofubi figure (9″) will be available on Thursday (6.10) at 9 AM PDT from Justin Ishmael’s site for $130 each. The figures are in stock and will ship next week.
